No tax incentive
Contract R&D
Not every project goes through a funding mechanism. If your company is not an Information Technology Act beneficiary, does not file under lucro real, or simply wants to start without depending on eligibility, it can contract the Institute directly.
What it is
The same team, without the eligibility layer
Instituto Iracema is a non-profit private ICT and can be contracted like any technical service provider — with the difference that it brings its own laboratories, technical staff and project governance. It is the same team that delivers the projects on the incentivised routes.
The difference is in what you do not have to do: no fitting the project to the right law, no accreditation to check, no reporting to a funding body and no statutory deadline. The project starts when the contract is signed.
When this route makes the most sense
In practice, it is the route for those who do not pass the other tracks' filters — or who do, but are in a hurry.
- The company is neither an Information Technology Act beneficiary nor files under lucro real
- The project does not fit the area of competence of an EMBRAPII Unit
- The timeline does not accommodate the eligibility and approval cycle
- The company prefers a straightforward commercial contract, with no ancillary obligations to a funding body
- It is a small or exploratory scope that does not justify structuring an incentivised project
What can be contracted
From the experiment that validates a hypothesis to the system in production.
Proofs of concept
Experiments to validate technical feasibility before committing a development budget.
Software development
Applications, integrations and platforms, from architecture design through to delivery.
End-to-end solutions
From firmware and hardware to the cloud and the interface, with a single technical owner for the whole solution.
Evolving an existing product
Improvements, new features, modernisation and fixing bottlenecks in systems already in operation.
Prototyping and engineering
Mechanical and electronic prototyping, SMD assembly and pilot batches in the Institute's laboratories.
Training and educational programmes
Technical upskilling for teams, training and educational programmes designed on demand.
Why an ICT rather than a software house
The contract is simple, but what sits on the other side is not an ordinary supplier.
Our own laboratories
Embedded systems, SMD production, mechanical prototyping and software, at our own premises in Fortaleza.
Project governance
A Technical-Scientific Council responsible for managing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting — the same rigour as the incentivised routes.
A track record with industry
Projects delivered for manufacturers in electromedical devices, energy metering, telecom, security and mobility since 2012.
And there is a gain that only shows up later: if your company later becomes eligible for a funding mechanism, whoever already executed the project knows the way — and the transition stops being a fresh start.
